Thor E. Ansbæk
CEO
Thor has been CEO of OCTLIGHT since its founding in 2014, and he has driven the company to its present position together with an international team of dedicated engineers.
Thor holds a Ph.D in Photonics Engineering from The Technical University of Denmark, together with executive education from Harvard Business School, and he has more than 10 years of experience in the fabrication of semiconductor technology. OCTLIGHT was founded based on the results of Thor´s extensive research for his Ph.D in semiconductor technology.
Kresten Yvind
CTO
Kresten is CTO and has responsibility for the continued scientific development of the company. Kresten is an expert in semiconductor lasers and fabrication technology, and he is an affiliated professor at The Technical University of Denmark. Kresten is experienced in SI and III-V semiconductor technology from equipment through development to manufacturing and has extensive experience in this field from the former Danish telecom company GiGA, which was sold to Intel. Kresten holds a Ph.D in Telecommunications from The Technical University of Denmark..

Peter E. Andersen
Advisory Board Member
Peter E. Andersen is a leading expert in the field of optical coherence tomography for medical applications.
Having obtained his Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark in 1995, he has spent the last decades conducting research within OCT, ophthalmology, and biophotonics. This experience, which makes Peter highly valuable to OCTLight, led him to co-found Norlase ApS in 2014, a company that has since become a major player in the global industry of laser-based devices for ophthalmology.
Since 2019, Peter served as head of the DTU Health Tech PhD School while also leading the Biophotonic Imaging research group.
He furthermore holds fellowships to worldwide photonics organizations such as Optica (formerly OSA) and SPIE.
Andreas Umbach
Advisory Board Member
Andreas Umbach, a graduate of the Technical University of Berlin, has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in photonic technologies through his years of experience in both academia and industry. His work at the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Herz-Institut developing high-speed photodiodes paved the way to the founding of u2t Photonics AG in 1998, which since became a leading supplier of photoreceivers for communication systems. After the sale of u2t Photonics to Finisar in 2014, Andreas became General Manager of Finisar Germany and Vice President of Finisar. In 2018, he left Finisar to found AUCCEPT Consulting, offering valuable expertise in the development of photonic devices such as the VCSEL-technology that OCTLight uses.
Andreas has served on various committees, including the European Conference of Optical Communications (ECOC). He is also a senior member of the IEEE (Photonics society and Communications society).
